{"id":950,"date":"2022-06-05T12:38:31","date_gmt":"2022-06-05T19:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.inedc.com\/22\/?p=950"},"modified":"2022-06-06T13:07:18","modified_gmt":"2022-06-06T20:07:18","slug":"placer-county-fires-embattled-ceo-todd-leopold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.inedc.com\/22\/06\/05\/placer-county-fires-embattled-ceo-todd-leopold\/","title":{"rendered":"Placer County Fires Embattled CEO Todd Leopold"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>(California County News)<\/pre>\n<p>PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA, June 5, 2022 \u2014 The Placer County Board of Supervisors has fired County Executive Officer Todd Leopold following an investigation into\u00a0a Workplace Discrimination and Harassment complaint from a county employee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Board does not take this decision lightly,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.placer.ca.gov\/5677\/About-the-CEO\">supervisors said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cThe Board\u2019s decision was in the best interests of the County taxpayers and the County employees following the information revealed during the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Board of Supervisors, the decision was not related to the vehicle accident involving Mr. Leopold and Anthony Williams that occurred on March 19, 2022.\u00a0Since the accident, there has been speculation about Leopold\u2019s actions, as well as those of the police department.<\/p>\n<p>In May, after\u00a0much speculation, Leopold confirmed that he was the driver who fatally struck the 18-year-old Inderkum High School student. Williams was walking along Lonetree Boulevard and Adams Drive in Rocklin at approximately 8:30 p.m. when Leopold hit him with his car.<\/p>\n<p>An investigation by Rocklin Police determined that Leopold was not at fault. Police said he stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. However, members of the community and media have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/account.sacbee.com\/paywall\/stop?resume=261367592%C2%A0\">criticized the department<\/a>\u00a0for a lack of transparency.\u00a0On May 18, the Sacramento Bee\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/amp.sacbee.com\/news\/local\/article261543332.html\">reported<\/a>\u00a0that Leopold had a history of speeding and was once charged with a DUI.<\/p>\n<p>Williams has been described as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stocktonnews.digital\/family-of-man-fatally-struck-in-rocklin-wants-answers\/\">\u201camazing, just full of life, full of love.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0He was a star basketball player at Inderkum.
