Horn scholarship is an incredible opportunity for seniors from either El Dorado, Golden Sierra High Schools or Folsom Lake-El Dorado Center who intend to come back to their communities of El Dorado County after college. It was a pleasure to be a part of the committee this year that awarded 5 deserving seniors a significant amount of scholarship money!”

The Evelyn R. Horn Scholarship Program was established by the Last Will and Testament of Evelyn Horn. This Scholarship is to be awarded to well-rounded students who intend to continue their education towards a bachelor’s degree. The election committee considers scholastic achievement, school activities, community involvement, and a demonstrated ability to work hard. Need is not a basis for awarding a scholarship nor is it considered.

A unique aspect of this annual scholarship program is that the selection committee focuses on individuals who will return to Placerville or Georgetown after completing their education to benefit the community.

Evelyn Horn lived in El Dorado County for 35 years.
