May 23, 2022 \u2014 Staff Writer, Sacramento Business Journal<\/p>\n<p>The tribe that owns Red Hawk Casino has purchased a large piece of land near Placerville.<\/p>\n<p>Public records show the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians bought multiple parcels off Sundance Trail near Placerville for $8.8 million earlier this month. The 182-acre property is 3 miles past the tribe\u2019s Red Hawk Casino along U.S. 50, off El Dorado Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always interested in purchasing land near the rancheria when it becomes available,\u201d said Tribal Chairwoman Regina Cuellar, in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>According to El Dorado County Assessor information, the parcels have a few residences on them, but are largely undeveloped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHousing for our tribal members has been a long-term priority,\u201d Cuellar\u2019s statement said. \u201cThis property, only minutes from the rancheria, will serve our membership for its housing needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In an email, tribal spokesperson Kim Stoll told the Business Journal the tribe plans to build more [&#8230;]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/sacramento\/news\/2022\/05\/23\/shingle-springs-tribe-buys-land-near-placerville.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">READ MORE<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Emily Hamann, Sacramento Business Journal) PLACERVILLE, Calif.
