MAY 9, 2022 (SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif.) \u2014\u00a0 For the first time Camp Richardson Historic Resort, an icon on Lake Tahoe\u2019s southwest shore for more than 100 years, has opened online booking for the resort\u2019s tent and RV reservations. The Historic Hotel, a two-story property featuring 26 lodge rooms decorated in \u201cOld Tahoe\u201d charm, and Beachside Inn will also go online later this month. The resort\u2019s highly coveted cabin accommodations are available through the lodging inquiry form and phone reservations. Families have visited Camp Richardson since the 1920s, taking in the sweeping landscape of the Sierra and Lake Tahoe. The lakefront all-seasons resort is known for its charming, rustic lodging and recreational access that makes it a popular family retreat. Opening day for lodging reservations each year is in October and November. Online reservations for tent camping are currently available through Oct. 3, 2022, and Nov. 11, 2022, for the RV spots.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a change in our operations that we have been diligently working toward for a long time,\u201d said Kris Knox, Camp Richardson general manager. \u201cWe understand that the resort is a beloved, cherished tradition for many families. What makes Camp Richardson special, beyond our lakeside location, is its history. With online reservations, we hope even more families discover the resort and make it part of their family traditions.\u201d<\/p>\n
The resort\u2019s Mountain Sports Center, which rents bikes in the summer, is expected to open May 13 in preparation for Memorial Day Weekend, Tahoe\u2019s traditional start of summer. The Ice Cream Parlor, known for its giant-sized scoops will open on weekends starting May 21.<\/p>\n
The popular lakefront Beacon Bar & Grill offers a relaxing indoor and outdoor lunch and dinner experience with breathtaking Lake Tahoe views. The Beacon’s famous Rum Runner, originated here, is the traditional summer drink of Lake Tahoe. Live music will also return to the Beacon this summer starting Memorial Day Weekend.<\/p>\n

A post office operated at Camp Richardson from 1927 to 1973,  The place is named after its first postmaster, Alonzo L.
