Include a backup leash, collar and ID tag. Have copies of your pet\u2019s registration information and other relevant documents in a waterproof container and available electronically.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Traveling bag, crate or sturdy carrier<\/strong>, ideally one for each pet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Grooming items.\u00a0<\/strong>Pet shampoo, conditioner and other items, in case your pet needs some cleaning up.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sanitation needs.<\/strong>\u00a0Include pet litter and litter box (if appropriate), newspapers, paper towels, plastic trash bags and household chlorine bleach to provide for your pet\u2019s sanitation needs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A picture of you and your pet together<\/strong>. If you become separated from your pet during an emergency, a picture of you and your pet together will help you document ownership and allow others to assist you in identifying your pet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Familiar items.<\/strong>\u00a0Put favorite toys, treats or bedding in your kit. Familiar items can help reduce stress for your pet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column\">\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Tips for Large Animals<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div class=\"fema-callout fafbf7 arrow\">\n<strong>If you have pets such as horses, goats or pigs on your property, be sure to prepare before a disaster.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>In addition to the tips above:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure all animals have some form of identification.<\/li>\n<li>Evacuate animals earlier, whenever possible. Map out primary and secondary routes in advance.<\/li>\n<li>Make available vehicles and trailers needed for transporting and supporting each type of animal.
