Solving the housing crisis that has resulted from the caldor fire is not an easy task.<\/p>\n
But the best solution is being debated among people who love grizzly flats.<\/p>\n
I am beyond how much you have to pay out to be able to live on your own property.<\/p>\n
Jay carlon took his life savings and paid cash to purchase property in grizzly flats to build a life on what he describes as his own little piece of america.<\/p>\n
It’d be less than a year before the caldor fire I pay taxes, pay the water, trash, I am not just looking for a handout.<\/p>\n
I got back up here as soon as I could so I would not be a burden.<\/p>\n
He’s hopeful the county will purchase tiny homes to be put on residents’ properties as he and his neighbors work towards more permanent solutions.<\/p>\n
We’re trying to get back our lives.<\/p>\n
They brought of a proposal to get these tiny homes.<\/p>\n
Scot telfor is part of the long-term recovery group, formed following the fire.<\/p>\n
They’re working with the el dorado county board of supervisors saying tiny homes are an option, but not the only solution.<\/p>\n
It’s a solution for some but I don’t think it’s the end all for everyone.<\/p>\n
But for this group they believe right now there are too many obstacles.<\/p>\n
And too much discussion about solutions what they need is action.<\/p>\n
And a place to live.<\/p>\n
We’re trying to get them to purchase them for us.<\/p>\n
Maybe not for the rest of our lives but until we rebuild.<\/p>\n
Carlon says he’s outfitted a shed to meet some of his needs it’s not up to code, so he’s technically living in the tent.<\/p>\n
It is challenging to live here when everything is ok and that is our choice.<\/p>\n
We know what we have to do but to add to it all the frustrations we have gone through, I am just trying to survive of here.<\/p>\n
