{"id":1818,"date":"2022-07-22T17:04:54","date_gmt":"2022-07-23T00:04:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.inedc.com\/22\/?p=1818"},"modified":"2022-07-22T17:04:54","modified_gmt":"2022-07-23T00:04:54","slug":"jury-finds-bomar-brothers-guilty-of-second-degree-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.inedc.com\/22\/07\/22\/jury-finds-bomar-brothers-guilty-of-second-degree-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Jury Finds Bomar Brothers Guilty of Second-degree Murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>Thomas Frey' Mountain Democrat<\/pre>\n<p>(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) July 22, 2022 \u2014 Brothers Chase and Cody Bomar were each found guilty of second-degree murder with special allegations of using a deadly and dangerous weapon in the 2018 killing of their former roommate Jeremy Fortuin on Pony Express Trail in Cedar Grove.<\/p>\n<p>Cody and Chase \u2014 who were 21 and 19 years old, respectively, at the time of Fortuin\u2019s death \u2014 sat quietly while they awaited the jury\u2019s verdict to be read Tuesday, July 19, in El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Vicki Ashworth\u2019s courtroom. They faced murder charges for fatally stabbing 42-year-old Fortuin 13 times in a multiple-week trial that ended with the jury not returning the first-degree murder conviction the District Attorney\u2019s Office was looking for.<\/p>\n<p>The evidence was there that the Bomars killed Fortuin.
