Join us in supporting this extremely worthy cause that directly benefits our schools and communities.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Friday, July 15,2022 &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Date of going Over the Edge<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2><strong>Our Mission:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>To create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Since 1977,\u00a0<strong>Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Sierra (BBBSNS)<\/strong>\u00a0has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is incredible potential. As the nation\u2019s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network BBBSNS makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (\u201cBigs\u201d) and children (\u201cLittles\u201d), ages 3 through young adulthood in our communities. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our mentoring programs benefit children who face adversity and stressful challenges in their day-to-day lives due to factors beyond their control. By partnering with parents\/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community, we are accountable for each child in our program achieving:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Avoidance of risky behaviors<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Educational success<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>About the Event<\/h2>\n<p><strong>BBBS of Northern Sierra\u00a0<\/strong>are excited to announce the 2nd annual\u00a0<strong>Over the Edge<\/strong>\u00a0event<strong>.\u00a0<\/strong>If you are looking for a new way to challenge yourself, or if you are an adrenaline junkie, or if you are hoping to make the world a better place, or if you just need an excuse to do something out of the ordinary, then we are hosting the perfect event for you! We invite you to\u00a0<strong>Go Over the Edge<\/strong>\u00a0and descend down the Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley, a 9 story building, on July 15th.<\/p>\n<p>You can show kids everywhere that by surrounding themselves with the right teams, people who are supportive and positive, they can turn obstacles into opportunities. \u201cRappeler&#8217;s\u201d have the opportunity to enjoy an exciting adventure, mark something off their bucket list, AND make a direct positive impact on the lives of disadvantaged youth in our community.\u00a0 BBBSNS relies on the generosity of our community members for support. We hope you will be a part of the success of\u00a0<strong>Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Sierra<\/strong>\u00a0and join us as we go\u00a0<strong>Over the Edge!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Who your help supports<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The money raised from this event will help us train volunteers, create and support long-term relationships, provide professional case management, and ensure optimal safety for everyone involved.\u00a0 We need YOUR help!\u00a0 Please stand with us as\u00a0<strong>\u201cDefenders of Potential\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and give the gift of hope for a child\u2019s future.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Requirements to be an Edger<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Requirements in order to participate:<\/p>\n<p>1. Your weight must be between 100 lbs and 300 lbs for safety purposes in order to rappel.<\/p>\n<p>2. You are willing to rappel down a 9 story building.<\/p>\n<p>3. You are willing and able to raise a minimum of $1,000 to be an edger by August 1st.<\/p>\n<p>4. You are willing to pay a $25 registration fee that will go towards your $1,000 minimum at the time of registration.<\/p>\n<p>5. Your temperature must be below 102 degrees on the day you go Over the Edge.<\/p>\n<p>6.
