{"id":1196,"date":"2022-06-19T22:03:12","date_gmt":"2022-06-20T05:03:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.inedc.com\/22\/?p=1196"},"modified":"2022-06-20T22:10:14","modified_gmt":"2022-06-21T05:10:14","slug":"el-dorado-county-cadered-emergency-alerts-changes-and-sign-up-instructions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.inedc.com\/22\/06\/19\/el-dorado-county-cadered-emergency-alerts-changes-and-sign-up-instructions\/","title":{"rendered":"El Dorado County CodeRED Emergency Alerts Changes and Sign Up Instructions"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>Cris Alarcon, News@InEDC.com<\/pre>\n<p>(PLACERVILLE, CALIFORNIA) June 19, 2022 \u2014 The El Dorado County Sheriff&#8217;s Office of Emergency Services alert and warning system provides a number of ways in which the county may contact the community in the event of an emergency such as evacuations due to wildfires, hazardous material spills, or urgent law enforcement operations.<\/p>\n<p>The El Dorado County Office of Emergency Services partnered with CalOES to bring the El Dorado County Emergency Alerts notification service to residents and businesses by app, telephone, cell phone, text message, email, and social media when there is a threat to the health or safety of residents.<\/p>\n<p>If you previously signed up for notifications through\u00a0<span class=\"font-weight-bold\">Code<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"font-weight-bold text-danger\">RED<\/span>\u00a0(El Dorado County&#8217;s former alert system), you do not need to sign up again to continue receiving notifications. The information from\u00a0<span class=\"font-weight-bold\">Code<\/span><span class=\"font-weight-bold text-danger\">RED<\/span>\u00a0will migrate over to the new system. We do however encourage new registration as a better way to update your notification options. You may receive notifications from both El Dorado County Emergency Alerts and CodeRED during the transition period. However, we recommend that you\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.smart911.com\/smart911\/ref\/login.action?pa=edcgov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLICK HERE<\/a>\u00a0and sign into El Dorado County Emergency Alerts to verify your information is correct. Your User ID should be your email address. Password must be 8 or more characters; at least 1 lower case letter, 1 upper case letter, 1 number, and 1 special character<\/li>\n<li>Enter preliminary contact information<\/li>\n<li>Check that you agree to the Terms of Service<\/li>\n<li>Click &#8220;Create Account&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6>Enter your Address<\/h6>\n<p>Most alerts are sent to a specific group, based on the geographical location of the incident or event.<br \/>\nNote that if the pin on the map is not over your residence, you can move it to an appropriate location by clicking and dragging the pin.<br \/>\nYou will not receive any location-based alerts if you do not provide an accurate address.<\/p>\n<h6>Add Additional Contacts<\/h6>\n<p>After creating your profile, the system will give you the opportunity to add additional household members (Emails), additional addresses, and additional phone numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Below you will see links to download the mobile application for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.ravemobilesafety.mysmart911&amp;hl=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Android<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/app\/smart911\/id1413223852?mt=8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iOS devices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h6>Save El Dorado County Emergency Alerts in your Contacts<\/h6>\n<p>After creating your account, you may wish to save the contact information for El Dorado County Emergency Alerts to avoid confusing it with a SPAM call or email. Telephone messaging will show a CallerID of 530-621-7595. Emails will come from edcgov@getrave.com.
