Black Oak Mine Unified School District contest was omitted from the ballot
The El Dorado County Election Department has discovered an error in the current vote by mail ballot affecting 3,072 voters in the Black Oak Mine Unified School District, announced Recorder-Clerk-Registrar Bill Schultz.
The problem is that the Black Oak Mine Unified School District contest was omitted from the ballot for these vote by mail voters.
“We will proceed to redesign and reprint vote by mail ballots for these voters. When we mail out the new replacement ballot a letter of explanation will be included so that voters are aware of the error and how the correction will be implemented,” Schultz said.
This procedure will not adversely affect the election for these areas, or the candidates. It does not affect the polling place ballots, only the vote by mail ballots, Schultz said.
“I apologize sincerely for this error, but it’s done and I need to make everyone aware of that fact. The Election Department must always be as transparent as possible to the public as your trust in us is one of the most important goals for our department. We are in the process of correcting this error and the election will proceed as usual and no further problem is anticipated. Contact us at 530-621-7480. I have contacted the affected candidates and explained what happened and how I intend to correct the problem,” Schultz said.
