ENDORSEMENT LETTER: Dear Friends,My mailbox is full of information about legal and profession attacks against two Judge candidates, the newspapers are full of stories of questionable behavior, and even a website by the son of a sitting county judge is full of accusations. Accusations that should be settled before they are elected to the bench.
We know that all kinds of accusations are made, and only some are true, but can we take a chance of electing a Judge that may be found guilty of misconduct shortly after being elected. What would that do to public confidence in our courts?
Trust and faith in justice are key to the public. Judicial Canons require that a Judge avoid even the appearance of impropriety because of the damage it would do to the public trust.
Fortunately, we have another choice, a man of the people, a man unquestioned ethics, a man with local values and common sense, a man that has proven his fairness and efficiency adjudicating cases right here for almost 9 years. That is Stephen Valentine.
The last couple of weeks have made it clear that Stephen W. Valentine is the best candidate for Superior Court Judge and I am asking you to join me in voting for him.
Not only has Mr. Valentine served the county on the Bench and as a local businessman for almost twenty years, he is the only candidate running that has kept every campaign sign out of the public right-of-way, kept his campaign completely positive, and does not have a cloud of over his head.
Even Judge Doug Phimister was quoted in the newspaper that Mr. Valentine developed a method which was used to be more efficient in Judging cases. That same standard was applied to one of Mr. Valentine's opponent by Judge Phimister and the opponent failed!
Stephen Valentine has proven his competence and efficiency on the job, his high personal and ethical standards, and his insistence that every person get a full and fair hearing.
My vote is for Stephen Valentine and I hope you will join me in voting for the best candidate for El Dorado County Judge.
Frederick Gundran,
Ret. Deputy Sheriff,
Lic. Private Investigator and forensic accountant.
