Sherri Lum, Endorsement Letter, June 4, 2012
On June 5 we will be deciding the future of our county. One of the most important races is for Superior Court Judge. There is one candidate that should get our vote. Stephen W. Valentine.Hello to my friends and neighbors,
Steve has served this county as a father, husband and friend. During his years in private practice he contributed countless hours to the Center for Violence-Free Relationships formally known as the Women's Center, offering legal support to abused women and their children, appearing in court with these folks. His contributions helped many who had thought that society had forgotten them.
This is who Steve Valentine is: a community minded man with a strong background in the law and law enforcement. He has worked for the City of Ventura as a Reserve Police Officer and the County of Ventura as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff. Steve is the only candidate with law enforcement experience. He also raised two girls as a single parent while putting himself through law school.
After passing the Bar on his first try, he settled in El Dorado County and began practice in Cameron Park. He began to do work as a Judge Pro Tem hearing criminal and civil cases. Later he became a Superior Court Referee and heard still more cases. He was recruited to serve as a Superior Court Commissioner and retired from his commission after 6 years and eleven months. All together Steve has given almost a decade of Superior Court service to El Dorado County. Steve is the only candidate that has served in all three judicial assignments. When the Commissioner position became a Judgeship he applied and when his former colleagues and litigants called him to return to the bench he began the run for Superior Court Judge.
Steve is an honorable man who cares for his friends, family and community. He is even-tempered, observant, and attentive. He is calm and discerning with a passion for justice. We need those qualities in our next Judge.
Steve is ready to serve us in this most important role as Superior Court Judge. He needs only one thing to do this work, your vote.
On June 5th Vote for community, Vote for fair play, Vote for experience and knowledge.
Vote Valentine for Judge.
