McDonald’s offers free breakfast to students
As students prepare for their first day of school, McDonald’s restaurants in Northern California and Northern Nevada are helping kick-start their year with a wholesome breakfast. On Tuesday, Sept. 9, participating restaurants will offer free breakfast to kindergarten through eighth grade students from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Students less than 13 years old are required to be accompanied by an adult when visiting a participating McDonald’s restaurant.
The student's free breakfast includes an Egg McMuffin® or Egg White Delight McMuffin®, apple slices or Go-GURT® Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt and choice of 1% milk, fat-free chocolate milk or small Minute Maid® orange juice.
"Whether students eat at home, at their schools, or at McDonald's, it's important to have a well-balanced breakfast to start the school day off right. Today we will show you an easy option for at-home eating. McDonald's supports wholesome eating by offering fruit, vegetable, low-fat and fat-free dairy, and whole grain choices on its menu."
The free breakfast offer includes two of McDonald's newest menu options, the Egg White Delight McMuffin® and Go-GURT® Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt. The Egg White Delight McMuffin® is prepared with freshly grilled 100% egg whites, extra lean Canadian bacon and white cheddar served on a muffin with eight grams of whole grain at 250 calories. Made exclusively for McDonald's, the Go-GURT® Low-Fat Strawberry Yogurt side option is 50 calories, a good source of calcium and vitamin D.
Customer requirements for the free breakfast include: a parent or guardian must accompany students under 13 years of age; child must be present for offer and no group redemption; offer good while supplies last and no substitutions.
Research suggests that eating a protein-rich breakfast can reduce daily hunger, increase daily fullness, improve morning blood sugar control and lead to less snacking throughout the day. McDonald's supports improved nutrition choices by offering a Meal Builder phone app that allows you to create meal combinations and get the nutritional breakdown of your favorite menu items, as well as all of the restaurant's menu choices with nutrition and ingredient information at www.McDonalds.com
