Shooting on Bucks Bar Road Results in Death
After 1:00 p.m., the El Dorado Sheriff's Office issued this notice:
"On Wednesday September 3rd at 2134 hours, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a verbal disturbance in the 5000 block of Bucks Bar Road in Placerville. The call was quickly upgraded to an assault with a deadly weapon with a report of shots fired. When Deputies arrived, they discovered an unconscious male subject who had sustained a gunshot wound. The subject was evacuated from the scene and transported to Marshall Hospital. The subject later succumbed to the injury. A second subject was taken into custody and transported to Marshall Hospital because of medical concerns. There are no outstanding suspects in relation to this incident. An investigation into the shooting is currently under way and there will be more information to follow once the investigation is completed."
Initial scanner traffic noted that the weapon was a 45 caliber firearm but this has not been confirmed. It was also reported that the decedent was shot in the chest. Experts say that a shot to the chest with a weapon of this caliber is catastrophic and seldom survived. Reportedly, a man called dispatch to report he had discharged a firearm and might have hit another man. In total, there were four people at the scene and all had been drinking.
Employees at the hospital reported that the emergency room was notified and geared up for the trauma patient, but that the emergency was called off and the patient never made it to the trauma center. A lifeflight med-i-vac was staged and ready, but was called off as the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Locals reported that the incident occurred about 3/4 mile down Bucks Bar from Pleasant Valley at 5023 Bucks Bar Road, the Lazy B Ranch.
During the early response the reporting party was noted as, "FLAGGED AS OFFICER AGGRESSIVE" meaning that he was not friendly or cooperative to the responding law enforcement. Other locals reported that he was known to neighbors and law enforcement as being unfriendly to Law Enforcement.
Later that evening, JEFFREY ALLEN WHITE, age 39, was booked by the EDSO for the charge of 187(A), Felony Murder.
