Commentary: Attention EID ratepayers — your privacy has been violated!
“AR 1130 Public Access to Customer Records. Approved: December 12, 2006. The names, addresses, and any other data collected by the District regarding customers or property owners within the District, including computerized geographical information and project development files, shall not be available to the public except to the extent required by law.”
On Friday, Aug. 8, Director Prada published 14 ratepayers’ addresses.
At the Aug. 11 EID board meeting I stated my objection to Director Prada’s publication of ratepayer addresses.
“I object to an action of this board as carried out by board member, Director Prada. On Friday, Aug. 8, this Board of Directors and EID publically identified by address 14 ratepayers as: Fake, Scam, Fraud, Rip-off. This public identification of 14 ratepayers by address occurred online via ‘In El Dorado County.’ I believe that this action is in violation of BP 12030 Public Statements and Individual Board Member Actions. It is likely that other privacy related Board Policies were violated (AR 1130). I am calling for corrective action. Thank you.”
There is one of two possibilities. Either Director Prada had vetted his publication with the board and General Counsel or he had not. I gave Prada the benefit of the doubt. I addressed the board in the context of the former, i.e. a vetted publication.
I had barely uttered the words, “I object to an action of this board …”, when Prada angrily interrupted me. He emphatically exonerated his fellow board members and General Counsel and took full credit for his breach of AR 1130.
Greg Prada has zero respect for ratepayer privacy, EID board policy or EID administrative regulations. His mission is to turn neighbor against neighbor. By publishing 14 ratepayer addresses and inviting neighbor to neighbor confrontation Director Prada is acting irresponsibly.
This is dangerous.
Greg Prada is dangerous.
