Elderly Couple Found Shot in their Placerville Home
Deputies responded to a residence on the 3300 block of Gold Nugget Court in Placerville on 8/19/14 regarding a reported assault with a deadly weapon and possible suicide.
Deputies arrived to discover an elderly man and an elderly woman deceased in the residence. Both appeared to have been shot. Crime Scene Investigators and Detectives responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. Coroner investigators also responded to the scene and initiated an investigation to determine the identity of the victims and the cause of their deaths, Both investigations are continuing. Further information will be released as it is received.
UPDATE: The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 85-year-old Barbara Dozier and 83-year-old Gene Bunch were found dead in their 3300 block of Gold Nugget Court home. Bunch and Dozier were former Woodland residents, having lived in the community for a number of years.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office have said that they do not believe there is any outstanding threat to public safety.
Deputies who responded to the scene found that both Bunch and Dozier were shot. Detectives are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the pair’s death, noting that all possibilities – including the incident being a murder-suicide – are being investigated.
Investigators said that Bunch and Dozier were not married but had lived together for several years.
