Jennifer Nutting makes three promises if she’s elected District 2 Supervisor and everything else, including working to end county government waste, will be top goals.
“My first promise is honesty; I will always tell you the truth,” she said in an interview with Village Life. “No. 2, I’ll always be accessible. My third promise is I will always listen.”
Nutting may be running for public office for the first time, but she’s not new to political life; she’s been watching intently from behind the scenes ever since she married her husband, former District 2 Supervisor Ray Nutting ...

OUR BEST HOPE FOR CLEAN COUNTY GOVERNMENT
Why Am I Running?
I want our County to be a better place for all of us to live, work, and raise our families in. Like you, I don’t mind paying my fair share of taxes and fees to help support our County government when it provides necessary services that our private businesses cannot, such as roads, Sheriff and fire protection. However, I have lost my patience with the waste, fraud, and abuse I have seen coming from some County offices in Placerville…
Did you know about El Dorado County’s Bonus Scandal? Shockingly, several Elected County Officials including the County’s Auditor-Controller, Treasurer-Tax Collector, and District Attorney, have taken well over a million dollars in bonus money above the advertised salaries we thought we were paying them. Some of the justifications for these “bonuses” were professional development (having the proper credentials legally required to hold office), longevity (successful re-election), and additional responsibility (bureaucratic empire building).
Did you know about the County District Attorney wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on abusive “show trials” for career building publicity and political payback? After spending an estimated million dollars or more, this past May a jury rejected the DA’s false felony charges he filed against my husband. Two weeks later a jury cleared another of the DA’s political opponents after the DA wasted an estimated quarter of a million dollars of our tax money suing this political opponent over ten thousand dollars.
Did you know that the behavior of some County officials is so outrageous that our County is now spending hundreds of thousands of your taxpayer dollars on both attorneys and special efforts to prevent and defend harassment and bulling lawsuits from victimized County employees and private businesses?
While my top priority is cleaning-up our County government, I will continue to support policies that promote my other passions and our other important community needs such as:
Creating a more positive business climate to encourage families to start businesses and attract job generating companies to expand or relocate into our County.
Preserving and Promoting Agriculture to protect the important open space we all cherish.
Eliminating waste, fraud, and abuse – even if we must take budget money away from powerful Elected Officials and their allied Special Interests to better fund essential services.
Saving our struggling fire districts to keep fire insurance rates from pricing our rural residents out of their homes and businesses.
Preparing for the next drought by protecting the water we already have, procuring new water sources, and expanding available water supplies.
Fixing the damaging potholes ruining our roads and wrecking our cars and trucks.
Building more parks and ball fields to give our children more wholesome recreational opportunities.
