Dead Body of Female Found near Missouri Flat Road - Update, "female identified"
Update – Missouri Flat Road Death Investigation
September 2, 2014 – 1100 hours
On August 17, 2014, Deputies responded to a field off Missouri Flat Road and US Highway 50 for a report of human remains. An investigation was initiated and the family of the decedent was contacted. The female was subsequently identified as 52 year-old Penny Juergenson. The initial cause of death is undetermined pending toxicology results. However, the preliminary investigation does not indicate any foul play was involved.
Late on Sunday afternoon [8-17] the El Dorado County Sheriff's office issued this information:
At about 4:30pm today EDSO Central Dispatch received a report from a passerby that a body was located in an open field southeast of the intersection of Missouri Flat Road and US Highway 50. Patrol deputies responded and located the partially decomposed remains of a female. At this hour Deputy Sheriffs and Detectives are on scene conducting an investigation of this suspicious situation. The EDSO Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit has been called. Information regarding the circumstances of this death and the identity of the decedent is unknown at this hour.
Two Neighbors to the South reported hearing a loud gun shot last Thursday night. Another long-time resident reported his dog barking incessantly at about the same time, just after midnight last Thursday. He said it was unusual for his dog to bark at night.
Crime scene investigators were seen working past 10 p.m.
At 8:am the EDSO released additional information:
"Four EDSO Homicide detectives as well as Coroner’s detectives and a Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Team responded to the scene. The investigation continued at that location until nearly . At this time the female’s identity has not been established, and a cause of death remains undetermined. An autopsy will be conducted on a priority basis. The investigation is ongoing."
On Monday afternoon Nancie reported, "I believe she has been ID'd. A pastor from our church (Cold Springs Community) just posted that he spent some time today talking with her husband.
Officials have not yet confirmed an identification.
