Officer Scott Russell is not Forgotten by the Placerville Area CHP
This morning the California Highway Patrol, Placerville Area Unit, posted to their Facebook page pictures and comments about the honored serviceman that gave his life to make El Dorado County a great place.
The photo's were accompanied by a statement, "On this day, we remember one of our own. Placerville Area CHP Officer Douglas "SCOTT" Russell. On July 31, 2007, Officer Russell made the ultimate sacrifice and lost his life while serving the State of California."
The pictures include a picture of Officers Frank Rodriguez and Jason Keirsey showing respect in memory of their fallen friend. Frank & Jason were both on duty with Scott on July 31, 2007.
Community members were fast to post about Scott.
Deborah Graham wrote, "Scott used to come into the Starbucks I worked at early in the morning to get his venti coffee. He was a very nice, quiet, polite man. This was such a tragedy."
Kim Branson White wrote, "RIP Scott. And thank you to all our law enforcement officers for their duty."
Carey wrote, "He pulled me over a couple days before this accident happened and he was the nicest guy ever. He really was. He wrote me a ticket for my registration, but gave me a break on the speeding."
David wrote, "A sad day in EDC! I met him the day before on the perimeter of Shingle Springs fire & we talked for 10 min. Who would have known that...?"
Regina wrote, "I also received a ticket from him, and he was very personal and kind non condemning officer, may he rest in peace, and blessings to his family and many prayers for their loss."
Cathy wrote, "My dear friend. You are truly missed."
Michael wrote, "My friend played golf with Scott about a week before he was killed and he told my friend that life was precious and you need to cherish every moment..."
Jenny wrote, "I will always remember Officer Russell's bravery on that day. What a great man he was. May God protect all of our Officers as they protect our community."
Robyn wrote, "Love these boys. Thank you for the job you do everyday and for coming home to us safely. Scott will never be forgotten."
And Dwight Helmick said what many people of El Dorado County are thinking, "RIP, You are not forgotten."
