Preview Aug Art Show at July 20 meeting - Public Invited
The 48th annual National Mother Lode Art Exhibition is Aug. 3-17. The word has gone out to hundreds of artists and art organizations as well as online Calls to Artists Websites.
The show will feature 55 artists showing diverse two-dimensional and three-dimensional works of art from realism to abstract and experimental. Art in a wide variety of media, in categories of seascape, landscape, portrait, still life, animals, miniature and experimental are all a part of this art show. Photography and digital art were added last year.
A slide-show previewing the artworks will be shown at the Placerville Arts Association general meeting on Sunday, July 20 at 1:30 p.m. The meeting will also include a short business meeting, a meet and greet refreshment time, and several member-artists sharing some of their recent art creations.
The slide-show will feature all of the accepted artworks with a brief commentary by the artists in attendance.
It’s also an opportunity to ask questions of the artists, such as “How long did you have to sit in that spot to get the lighting and shadows just right,” or “did the bear attack you before you finished taking that picture,” or “how many different things did you glue to your canvas while creating your abstract,” or “how did you achieve that effect on your sculpture?” Who knows what mysteries will be uncovered.
The public is cordially invited to this free event. The meeting is at the El Dorado County Senior Center, 935 Spring St. in Placerville. The meeting usually concludes about 3:30 p.m.
