Placerville Union School District chooses superintendent and Sierra School principal
The school district provides services to students ages kindergarten through 8th Bonniksen has spent nearly the last two decades strengthening his educational leadership skills and establishing a career devoted to the needs of students, parents, teachers and staff alike. He began teaching in 1995 at Holtville Unified School District on the Southern tip of California, where he also became their Student Services Director.
Shortly after, he became the middle school principal of Page Unified School District and then spent several years as the superintendent/principal of Camino Union School District.
After hustling double-time for two years fulfilling the duties and demands of two school districts as superintendent of both Placerville and Camino, Bonniksen welcomes the opportunity to devote all of his time to delivering high-quality education at Placerville Union School District, “I am very excited to be with the Placerville Union School District,” Superintendent Bonniksen said. “We have three amazing schools in our district, and I look forward to being able to focus on refining the fantastic programs we have in place.”
Born and raised in Placerville, Rachelle Ball is a product of El Dorado County’s education system and now gives back to her community by supporting our students and families.
After obtaining her college degree and teaching credential, Ball began her 14-year career in education by teaching in North Highlands next to the city of Sacramento for five years. She moved back to Placerville and taught at Sierra School for an additional eight years.
The desire to become more involved on the administrative side of education drove Rachelle to achieve her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership along with her Administrative Credential.

grade in the city of Placerville.
