Opinion: Wake Up America -- we should have the opportunity to think for ourselves
My political e-mails over the past few years were (for the most part), the result of personal pondering and research in an attempt to find the truth — and to use that truth to enlighten and awaken America, who gives the appearance of sleeping. Some have disagreed with me from boredom of it all, while others have looked upon me with disgust. Rather than take the opportunity to critically think and help me correct my way, they send me e-mails void of logic. You would not believe how many responses have simply referred me to liberal Websites. I wanted their own personal reasons for their positions — not what a political party or think tank says. I have found some Americans have a strong cult mentality. They reject ideas foreign to them and many absolutely refuse to look at or ponder other ideas. Don’t confuse me with facts, my mind is made up. Somebody has already told me so.
You are probably aware there are a whole bunch of Americans who do not want to be bothered by politics. I find that strange, considering that politics control our daily affairs. Politicians pass laws that tell us when we can do certain things, where we can do them, how we can do them and how much it will cost us if we do or do not do them. I realize that some government is a necessity, but…
Without the Internet we would be at the mercy of our liberal schools (El Dorado County may be an exception) and media, who present the truth as they want it, or believe it should be. They want us to unquestionably believe them. I am aware of a survey some time ago, revealing students entering journalism were motivated to change the world — rather than to present facts for critical thinking. Maybe they should just go into politics. We continue to hear news reported with editorial views, rather than simply stating the facts and leave it there for pondering.
There are many elites who do not believe we should have the opportunity to think for ourselves. I’m sure you have heard Obama (more than once) command us not to listen to talk radio or those who oppose him. I am reminded of a preacher behind the pulpit one Sunday night telling the congregation, “If god is telling you something that is different from what god is telling me, then you are listening to the wrong god.” This guy should apply for Obama’s staff. Why is it said that knowledge is power? Is it because knowledge allows or causes one to critically think? I encourage disagreements as long as they are based on critical thinking or common sense — not on how we feel, conjure in our minds or blindly following another’s position.
Our educational system for the most part today wants us to believe as they do. They spend precious time teaching their morality and often rewriting historical truth. They spend little or no time on critical thinking. I believe if the media had vetted Obama half as much as they did Palin, things would be very different today. But, I refuse to blame our media. The blame must be placed at the feet of the culprit, which is an ignorant America who either has not been taught critical thinking, or prefers not to think outside of the family box. I mean, how can a community organizer with absolutely no history, be elected as leader of the free world? Was it because we are so ignorant that a smooth lying orator with a duplicitous political Party could deceive the majority of Americans? Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding yes. America is loaded with morons. Too many American families are walking in a personal state of bliss.
I do believe we are at the beginning of an awakening. If true, where do we go now? I don’t know how to approach morons nor how to approach the massive oppression of our government, which is extremely heavy on us. The answer should be an easy one: Just use the ballot box. But unfortunately, morons vote too — and they are breeding. Morons in Detroit are not paying their water bills, believing their water should be free. The United Nations agrees and is in the process of joining them. There will soon be a multitude of Latino voters insisting on welfare, Obama phones and other free stuff. They not only lack knowledge of our Constitution, they do not want to know it — similar to most of our own college youth.
The Greatest Generation has died or is retired. They were a product of a functional school system and bonded families who grew together as a unit. Their daddies were not raising someone else’s children and Mom was always home and there for them. So, getting off my soap box, where do we go from here? What now? Is it God’s time?
