Sue Fairley, RN,selected as VP of Nursing at Barton Health
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Sue Fairley, RN, has been selected as Barton Health’s new vice president of Nursing and Ancillary Services. Sue replaces Mary Bittner, RN, who left the organization in April to pursue a teaching career in health care.
Fairley has worked at Barton Health for 17 years and began as a staff nurse. Since 2004, she has been the director of Nursing. In the past few months, she has served as the interim vice president of Nursing.
“Sue has led our amazing nursing teams well and has always had the patient, support from employees, and Barton’s mission at the center of her leadership decisions,” stated John G. Williams, Barton’s chief executive. “Her collaborative management style will help serve Barton in the years to come as we continue to address the changing health care environment.”
Fairley’s responsibilities include oversight of many of the clinical departments at the hospital. She develops and supports the nursing practice throughout Barton Health. She will collaborate with medical staff, the board of directors and clinical leaders to develop and implement patient care programs, quality initiatives and regulatory compliance strategies.
Fairley is excited to assume her new role. Her goals are to build and provide ongoing support for Barton Health staff and to develop a strong professional relationship between nursing, physicians and the community.
She said, “Through collaboration and innovation, I hope to enhance and sustain care to meet the needs of both local and visiting patients.”
