In-Home Supportive Services Advisory Committee Seeks New Members
The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Advisory Committee of El Dorado County is seeking five new members to fill current vacancies. The IHSS Advisory Committee is appointed by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. Members of the Advisory Committee advise the Board of Supervisors and the IHSS Public Authority on information, issues and concerns affecting recipients and care providers in the IHSS program.
On November 1, 2013, El Dorado County IHSS will implement a new computer system, CMIPS II. This will change the way IHSS timesheets look and how they are processed.
Individuals who have received care through IHSS, or a similar program, or who have provided care to someone after a serious illness, disability or surgery are welcome to apply. Interested individuals are invited to attend the next meeting of the IHSS Advisory Committee on Monday, July 21, 2014 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the M.O.R.E. Facility, located at 399 Placerville Drive in Placerville. For more information, or to receive a membership application, please contact Yasmin Hichborn at (530) 642-4833.
The IHSS Program will help pay for services provided to you so that you can remain safely in your own home. To be eligible, you must be over 65 years of age, or disabled, or blind. Disabled children are also eligible for IHSS. IHSS is considered an alternative to out-of-home care, such as nursing homes or board and care facilities.
The types of services which can be authorized through IHSS are housecleaning, meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, personal care services (such as bowel and bladder care, bathing, grooming and paramedical services), accompaniment to medical appointments, and protective supervision for the mentally impaired.
