Adobe Oven Workshop
Saturday & Sunday. July 12-13th Oven Building Workshop 9:00am - 4:00pm, Cost is $90 ($80 for Co-op Owners)
The Placerville Natural Foods Co-op is excited to offer a two day workshop on adobe oven building! This is a hands-on workshop with a skilled local oven builder/artist, Brian Baker. At this two day workshop you’ll get an introduction to natural building and create an adobe brick oven. These ovens are great projects for home owners and a great learning experience for the whole family in sustainable building using locally sourced materials.
Adobe ovens are fun to build and ideal to make wonderful bread, pizza, flatbreads, roasting and grilling meals. Nothing taste better than adobe oven pizza!
Workshop includes instruction essentials including where to find raw materials, basic cob and adobe building techniques, and earthen plaster finishes to your creations.
About the Instructor: Brian Baker is local artist and natural builder who has been exploring the relationship of earth and fire for over 20 years. With a background in ceramics, Brian is well versed in kiln building and operation, including traditional Japanese wood-fired kilns. ln 2005 Brian took a natural building apprenticeship in cob construction, Where he was able to apply his ceramic knowledge towards building wood-fired ovens.
