Wasted spending should be voted out - opinion
I speak for a large numbers of county residents when I point to nauseating amounts of wasteful spending and the wanton abuse of power that we see from our county’s elected “leadership.”
• The costs of the Nutting/Dellinger persecution have been estimated to be as high at $1.5 million. Can our elected officials comment on what this amount of spending has accomplished other than to destroy the public’s trust in leadership? And remember, Nutting was found not guilty on the major part of the case. What a waste of time and money.
• The county has approved almost $400,000 in spending to address what anyone can see from the outside as a hostile work environment. Why has this been allowed to develop? Why has this been allowed to continue?
• The county fought the return of excess Mello-Roos fees to the taxpayers in Serrano. This unsuccessful effort came at the price of $500,000 in legal fees. Why do lawyers get rich from public funds used to chase wild geese?
In each of these cases, I will loudly state that the whomever made these decisions (Auditor-Controller’s Office, District Attorney’s Offfice) do not deserve to be in office. It’s time we see things as they are.
In three short points, I’ve detailed over $2.4 million in completely wasteful spending. Wake up Board of Supes. Wake up neighbors. This money would pay for a lot of senior services, a lot of pothole fixes and maybe even support some additional fire resources that are sorely needed in our community.
