Fellow El Dorado County supervisors put Nutting’s political fate in judge’s hands
El Dorado County supervisors today voted to ask a judge to decide whether embattled supervisor Ray Nutting must be suspended or removed from office as result of his conviction on six misdemeanors last week...
With Nutting excluded from attending, the four other county supervisors went into private session Tuesday morning with county attorney Ed Knapp and outside legal counsel to discuss the supervisor’s fate.
They did so after receiving an angry tongue-lashing from dozens of supporters of Nutting who packed the Placerville board chambers, charging that the supervisor was a victim of a politically motivated prosecution.
Nutting supporters carried signs reading, “The jury spoke - Keep Nutting in office” and “Private or public lynching is no longer legal in Hangtown.”
