Sheriff’s Office Employees Support the Special Olympics Tonight
Do you need a great excuse to go out to lunch or dinner? Well here it is.
Personnel from the Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with Special Olympians to seat you and serve you at Applebee’s in Cameron Park this Thursday May 15, 2014. Together they will be serving lunch from 11:00am to 2:00pm and dinner from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
Each year employees from your local Sheriff's Office team up with local Special Olympic athletes and Applebee’s in Cameron Park and present “Tip-A-Cop”.
The annual Tip-A-Cop event teams Sheriff’s Office personnel with local Special Olympics athletes, to serve as celebrity wait staff and gather “special tips” to help fund the El Dorado Special Olympics 2014 sports and training program. The program provides athletes with year round training and competition opportunities. More than 150 local Special Olympians of all ages and abilities participate in a multitude of sporting events to include swimming, track and field, bowling, golf, floor hockey, softball, bocce ball, basketball and soccer.
By participating in sports, physical fitness and healthcare education programs, El Dorado Special Olympics athletes increase self-confidence and social skills, improve physical and motor skills, and have better success in leading more productive and independent lives.
It is events like “Tip-a-Cop” that help provide these programs at no cost to the athletes or their families.
Come on out and get a good meal while supporting our local Special Olympians.
Thank you Applebee’s and the participating Sheriff’s Office personnel for helping support such a great cause.
