Locals opposed to developing old EDH golf course by 7 to 3
Residents of El Dorado Hills showed their support for the acquisition of a former golf course during a recent community opinion survey.
The survey centered around the El Dorado Hills Executive Golf Course and the results showed strong support in favor public acquisition, despite a potential annual cost increase to residents.
Fairfield-based SCI Consulting Group conducted the study on behalf of the El Dorado Hills Community Service District, sending surveys to 8,000 local voters and property owners.
Mary Shilts, with SCI Consulting Group, said of the 2,541 respondents to the mail and online questionnaires, roughly 70 percent were against development on the golf course land and would vote in favor of obtaining it for open space and recreational use.
... Though the EDHCSD would like to purchase the land, the Parker Development Company owns the parcel and has filed the necessary application with the county in order to rezone it for a proposed 750-unit home development.
Kirk Bone, director of government relations with Parker, said the company will pursue plans for the site until they have received the approvals for the project or are forced to make other plans.
... For Community Service District Board President Noelle Mattock, the community survey was necessary to determine the route the district should take.
