Found Guilty, El Dorado County man faces 200 years in prison for child sex abuse
An El Dorado County man faces more than 200 years in prison after being found guilty of 12 counts of sex crimes against a child, the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office announced Friday. "Sheriff investigators gathered evidence, interviewed witnesses, and developed enough probable cause to arrest Everett. On April 24, 2013, Everett was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on multiple felony counts with a no bail hold," a press release states.
The jury found David Charles Everett, 25, guilty of sodomy, oral copulation and other lewd acts with a child 10 years old or younger, the district attorney’s office said in a news release.
The child’s parents reported the attacks to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department in April 2013.
Everett, who has been held without bail since his arrest about a year ago, went on trial May 1. Sentencing for Everett is set for 1:30 p.m., June 13 in Department 1 of the Superior Court of El Dorado County.
“Children and victims of sexual assault often times feel they go unheard in the criminal justice system. Though nothing can change the physical and emotional pain that has occurred, it is my hope that the victim and family can find some sort of peace in the guilty verdict," Suder said after the trial.
