A letter to Scott McNeil
Gerald Lillpop, May 23, 2012I would like to thank Scott McNeil for his attempt to stifle my public descent. One of the most frustrating things about being a property owning, tax paying, voting citizen of Cameron Park and going to the board meetings is watching the fiscally unsustainable spending that the CSD perpetuates.
Due to Mr. McNeil’s efforts an article appeared in this paper (Mt Democrat) about his email request and comments about me, which he submitted to Board President Frentzen, and my subsequent response.
This article caused a large number of comments and as a result information is now in the paper of record for El Dorado County that Cameron Park may be as much as two hundred thousand ($200,000) in the red this fiscal year and is looking at being at least one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) in the red next year and has a budget proposal of nearly five million dollars ($5,000,000 per one citizens estimate) as of the last preliminary budget that was submitted to the CSD Board. Also, it is now a matter of public record that Cameron Park has wasted up to eleven thousand dollars ($11,000) repairing the skate park enclosure at Christa McAuliffe park. In addition it is now on the record that in order to off set the red ink General Manager Mary Cahill brought forth a proposal to the Cameron Park Board of Directors at the May 14th 2012 board meeting that calls for closing the Lagoon at Cameron Park Lake, ending the night time security patrols at the CSD’s facilities and most shockingly eliminating Paramedic Services.
No longer can Cameron Park CSD’s imprudent spending be hidden from the public. For this we own Scott McNeil a huge thank you. Although I don’t believe that it was his intention to see to it that the budget mess Cameron Park is in was exposed it seems to have turned out that way.
