4th annual Aerojet-Rocketdyne Wounded Veteran Run fundraiser
SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 7, 2014 – The fourth annual Aerojet Rocketdyne Wounded Veteran Run fundraiser to benefit local injured veterans through the national Wounded Warrior Project and local veteran-support organizations, will be held on Memorial Day, May 26.
Founded in 2011 by local college student Courtney Hvostal in honor of her brother who was severely injured in Afghanistan, the Wounded Veteran Run has quickly become a favorite annual Memorial Day event for the community. In 2012, Aerojet Rocketdyne joined as the run’s title sponsor. Last year’s event drew approximately 2,000 participants and raised more than $47,000 for the veteran support groups. This year, the Purple Heart Fund and the El Dorado Hills Veterans Memorial Park have been added as additional beneficiaries.
The 2014 3K/5K/10K run/walk event, to be held in Folsom, Calif., features professional timing on a certified race course and a fun run for kids. Online registration is now open at www.woundedveteranrun.org. Family, school, corporate and group participation in the run/walk is encouraged as a meaningful way to support and thank our brave service men and women over Memorial Day weekend!

About Wounded Veteran Run
Wounded Veteran Run is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization inspired by the daily perseverance and dedication of our nations combat wounded service members. Our goal is to raise awareness and donations for Veteran supporting non-profits and implement programs to support and thank Veterans within our community.
Starting in 2011, Wounded Veteran Run was created by a local personal trainer as a way to promote physical fitness while simultaneously paying honor to her brother who was severely injured while serving in Afghanistan on 14 July 2010. While spending time with her brother at Walter Reed Hospital she came in contact with many other wounded Veterans and wanted to find a way to help support all of our injured troops. An annual 10K, 5K, and 3K running/walking event on Memorial Day seemed like the perfect solution.
