Suicide reported at County Jail in South Lake Tahoe
Jail officers found the 47-year-old South Lake Tahoe man unconscious and not breathing in his cell according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
Correctional officers found John Harold Bordycott, 47, on Sunday at 2:26pm unconscious with a bed sheet around his neck. He could not be revived and was pronounced dead at Barton Memorial Hospital.
Bordycott had been booked into the South Lake Tahoe facility on March 27 on domestic violence charges.
Officers started CPR and continued it until medics arrived and transported the inmate to Barton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
While the preliminary cause of death is suicide by hanging, the case remains under investigation by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the district attorney’s office and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
