Popular "Rockin' Richard" Passes, Mountain Community Remembers
Here are just a few comments on Social Media when it was learned that "Rocker" Rick Grimes had passed away:
I knew Ricky Grimes and the rest of the boys since I was 12 growing up in Pinole. Moving to Georgetown 6 years ago and learning Ricky has lived local for over 20 years it was nice having a few drinks and talking of old time growing up in Pinole. Was great hearing his voice come over the radio and playing music all could enjoy, we have lost a great man who has done so much for so many people on the Divide. RIP my old friend.
Rockin' Richard was the most popular DJ on KFOK. This from his online listeners but even more so those who tuned into his show on 95.1FM in Georgetown. We lost Richard yesterday as he passed on.
Richard put his heart in his show as he did in everything he would do. More than anything else you could say he cared. He cared about KFOK-LP, the local all volunteer radio station, he cared about Georgetown and Garden Valley, he cared about his friends but most of all he cared about his family.
RIP Richard, you have left a hole in all of our hearts which you will occasionally sneak back into.
He was the man - I loved him and always remember how much fun I had with him at KFOK. I always looked forward to him coming in to the studio after me. He made me laugh and of course always flirted a bit and made me blush. I will miss him.....
After his show on Fridays, he would come over to the Miner's Club and play pool with me. When he was on his game, you couldn't beat him. I will miss him and his sense of humor!!
He will be missed very much. He was a very funny and kind person. I will always remember the lessons he taught me in pool. RIP Richard
Very sad news. I remember you as the DJ at my nieces wedding. God bless you and your family. Rest in Peace.
We will report on details of any memorial services as the information becomes availble. Also see: http://kfok.org/tag/rockin-richard/
