Local body shop makes the Boy Scouts El Dorado District Pinewood Derby happen for a 4th year
SHINGLE SPRINGS, CA March 18, 2014— The El Dorado District Pinewood Derby is a Boy Scouts of America event where Cub Scout Packs from the entire El Dorado District compete in a pinewood derby race. Handmade custom cars are built according to District Derby regulations and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners of best design of each of the Scout Packs are invited to race and show their cars at the District level.
This event is open to all scouts, their friends and family. “We have a lot of fun at this event. Ii is our 4th year and we are grateful to Kniesel’s Collision Centers, for without them we may not be able to afford this event” says Manon Desrosiers, Event Chair and Organizer for the Boy Scouts of America.
Kniesel’s Collision Center of Shingle Springs has held the championships at their location since its inception. They generously have provided every year, food and drinks to all attendees, paid for trophies, participation pins and rental of tables, chairs and the pinewood derby track.
Two and fifty hundred people attended last year's event, attracting 100 more than the previous year. The event is expected to draw around 300 people this year.
