El Dorado Builders Exchange Scholarship apps due by March 31
The El Dorado Builders’ Exchange Scholarship Program has been established to create an awareness of, and stimulate an interest in, job opportunities within the construction industry, by providing financial assistance in the form of Student Scholarships. The El Dorado Builders Exchange Scholarship Fund is available to all high school graduating students in El Dorado County and currently enrolled college students maintaining a 2.5 grade-point average.
This scholarship is designed for the student applicant who will be furthering his/her education in the construction industry, such as management, building construction technology, architecture, engineering and/or CAD technician.

Eligibility: This program is open to all high school graduating students within El Dorado County and currently enrolled college students maintaining a 2.5 grade point average. This includes the employees and children of the El Dorado Builders’ Exchange members. The student applicant will be furthering his/her education in the vocational or construction industry-related programs, such as, but not limited to: the licensed building trades; construction management; building construction technology; architecture; engineering and/or CAD technician. Applicants to trade schools will be given the same consideration as applicants to junior colleges and four-year colleges.
Ineligible: Children and/or family of the current El Dorado Builders’ Exchange Board of Directors or Scholarship Selection Committee are ineligible. Students with a grade point average lower than a 2.5.
Basis of Award: The selection of a scholarship recipient is based on achievement or merit as determined, in part, by school transcripts and grade point average (GPA). In addition, the Scholarship Selection Committee will consider “real work” experience, along with indications of basic student interest, aptitude and attitude, as determined, in part, by such items as history of school attendance, student’s demonstrated seriousness regarding his/her studies and work, and essay submission. Finalists selected will undergo a personal interview. Moreover, the amount of aid available may vary each year, and will be determined annually by the El Dorado Builders’ Exchange Board of Directors.
Application Deadline: Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2014 to the El Dorado Builders’ Exchange staff.
Re-submittals: Those applicants who have received the El Dorado Builders’ Exchange Scholarship are eligible to re-apply each year they attend school, however they will receive no special priority and are subject to the same selection process as new applicants. A new application packet must be submitted each year.
