Meat From Petaluma Beef Recall May Have Been Shipped to El Dorado County Stores
Meat federal officials say wasn’t properly inspected and may have come from diseased cattle was likely shipped to stores in El Dorado County, the USDA says.
Petaluma-based Rancho Feeding Corporation is recalling more than 8.7 million pounds of beef shipped around the country because the slaughterhouse “processed diseased and unsound animals” and did so without federal inspection, the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Tuesday.
The Petaluma beef recall first started on Feb. 8, but was expanded once officials learned of more stores that had received the affected meat.
