Dog-Friendly Hiking Trail Presentation by local author Debbi Preston
Debbi Preston, local author and dog-hiking enthusiast, will be discussing the benefits and tips about hiking together. Tips include warnings about other animals, ticks and biting insects. Information regarding elevation, rattlesnakes, poison oak, increased temperatures and water sources will be covered. The importance of an available leash when encountering other dogs, horses, other pack animals, or the occasional gunshot sound will also be explored.
Debbi has written two books on local hiking trails, 48 Dog-Friendly Trails and Dog-Friendly Trails for All Seasons and will cover them in her presentation. Both books will be available for sale at the event. The Photo Presentation segment will run about an hour with time afterward for Questions and Answers. Under discussion will be year-round hiking choices and elevations found throughout El Dorado and Placer County.
Also of interest to an outdoor audience may be information regarding equestrian, mountain biking and handicapped accessible trails. New this year is information for spring snowshoeing with your dog.
Seating may be limited so bring your human a little early.
