Abbott Tryphon of Vashon Island, Wash., will be visiting El Dorado County for a series of talks entitled “An Eastern Perspective on Western Spirituality.”
Experience a mini-retreat, as Abbot Tryphon, an Eastern Orthodox Monk for more than 30 years shares his journey which includes his profession of psychologist and being a practitioner of Zen Buddhism — before leaving it all behind to become an Orthodox Christian monk.
The practices of Eastern Orthodox Christian monks began forming from the second century after Christ.
Tryphon serves as the abbot of All-Merciful Saviour Monastery, writes a much-viewed blog “The Morning Offering” and is a popular podcaster on Ancient Faith Radio.
He will be appearing at the Cozmic Café, 594 Main St. in Placerville, on Friday, Feb. 14 from 3-5 p.m. This gathering will be geared towards high school and college students.
On Saturday, Feb. 15 Tryphon will be at the Manzanita Kitchen and Event Center, 4232 Fowler Lane, Suite 101, in Diamond Springs, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This event is free and includes a luncheon.
