El Dorado Irrigation District issues a Stage 2 Water Warning with voluntary conservation of 30%
Last night, the El Dorado Irrigation District Board of Directors held a special meeting to consider declaring a Stage 1 Water Alert.
Due to the severity of the ongoing drought, however, the Board decided to jump to a Stage 2 Water Warning, which calls for voluntary conservation of 30%.
Drought surcharges are not currently in effect. The Board continued consideration of implementing a drought surcharge until the March 10 meeting. At that time, the Board will also consider whether to convert the call for voluntary conservation into a mandate.
The Board is hopeful that customers will voluntarily meet the 30% water reduction target under a Stage 2 Water Warning, but raising public awareness will be crucial.
