Ministry Licensing Ceremony for Matt Morecraft
On Sunday, Jan. 26 the Pollock Pines Community Church Lead Pastor Eric Myers and elder board will perform a ceremony to license youth director Matt Morecraft for ministry.
Morecraft began his ministry career as a youth intern in 2011 and in 2012 he was brought on staff as the youth director.
Licensing is a credential of the local church that recognizes an individual’s call and gifting for ministry. The license is usually granted as a vocational ministry or preaching ministry. Morecraft will receive a license for preaching, recognizing his ambitions to become a pastor after finishing school. Once he completes Bible College the next step would be ordination as a pastor.
It is one of the prevailing customs of the church to grant a license to someone believing himself, and believed by others, to have been called to preach the Gospel, but not yet prepared to enter upon the work of the elder/pastor ministry.
When the local church of which he is a member recognizes God’s gifting, blessing and leading upon such a man into the active Gospel ministry, it is fitting for the church to take steps toward granting him a license to preach.
After careful and prayerful examination by the church elder board concerning his conversion, call and doctrinal views, and upon their favorable recommendation to the local church, the candidate is granted a license to ministry.
Morecraft is a graduate of El Dorado High School and currently attends Liberty University where he is working towards a bachelor’s degree in ministry with a minor in counseling.
The ceremony is especially meaningful to the congregation, as Morecraft is the first member to have grown up in the Pollock Pines Church to be licensed.
It will take place in the church worship center, 6361 Pony Express Trail in Pollock Pines, beginning at 6 p.m. with a dessert reception to follow.
