Candidates for El Dorado Superior Court judge could be facing off with guns at high noon Saturday. All three signed up to attend, but who will show up now that the challenge has been issued?The three candidates – Stephen Valentine, Warren Stracener and Joseph Hoffman – won't be shooting at one another, but they've been invited to compete, firing weapons at targets.
If it sounds like the Old West and shades of Judge Roy Bean, so be it.
"We're Hangtown. This is the West," said Valentine, whose election website includes a photo of him in a cowboy hat. He challenged his fellow candidates to participate in the "shootout" as a way to reduce tensions in the competitive race.
