Divide to hold high-speed Internet meetings
The Divide Chamber of Commerce and the Sierra Economic Development Department will be holding four Town Hall meetings regarding the development and access to high-speed Internet (broadband) on the Divide.
The meetings are a culmination of over two years of research and development with local providers, corporate entities and governmental departments and grants to bring 4G broadband to all of California. SEDCorp has been instrumental in being the liaison and coordinator in conjunction locally with the Divide Chamber.
All meetings will be held in January, at 6 p.m. at the following locations: Jan. 20 for Pilot Hill at Holiday Market Meeting Room; in Cool, Jan. 22 for Greenwood/Garden Valley at the Old School House in Greenwood; Jan. 27 for Georgetown at the Community Center in Georgetown; and Jan. 29 at Cool Beerwerks in the Holiday Shopping Center in Cool.
We will cover current solutions for attaining high-speed Internet, with providers present that will take contact information to perform analysis to see if they have the competitive solution for you. Also we will talk about the future possibilities and forecasts of what will be coming available and also the technical and logistical obstacles that have restricted access thus far. Many modalities have overcome the challenges which residents may not be aware of and are available today to bring high-speed Internet to your home or business.
This is a Community Partner Event with Georgetown Divide Recreation District. More information will be available on the Divide Chamber Website at DivideChamber.com.
