El Dorado County Releases Citizen Survey Results
This year the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office launched a community survey to see how well they're serving the community, and they say they're pleased with the results.
The results are in, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has earned high marks on an 11-question, first ever, Sheriff’s Community Survey.
To gain feedback on how well deputies performed their job, individuals who placed calls for service were surveyed from all five Supervisory Districts in El Dorado County. Of the 6,721 individuals who placed calls for service in August 2013, 125 were surveyed. Calls for service of a sensitive nature, such as calls for service regarding rape, child abuse, suicide, homicide, and domestic violence were excluded from the survey.
The survey was issued either in person or by phone and included questions about the deputy’s interpersonal skills, punctuality and overall competence during the call for service. “It’s an internal quality-control check,” Sheriff D’Agostini said of the survey. The survey is published on the Sheriff’s Office county website for public review. More than 75% of respondents said their overall impression of the Sheriff’s Office was “very positive”. An impressive 84% of respondents indicated that the deputies fulfilled the mission of law enforcement at either an above average or outstanding level. Equally notable was the fact that 83% of the respondents believed the deputies were either very interested or somewhat interested in their concerns and 91% of respondents felt that the deputies’ arrival was either average or timely. The survey results show that the vast majority of respondents have an overall positive impression of the deputies in the community.
The Sheriff’s Office will use the results of his survey to better meet the needs of the community. “We don’t just want to rest on our laurels, ”D’Agostini said. “We are always looking for ways to improve. I am very proud of the level of service our deputies provide county-wide”, and “this first-ever survey provides good feedback on our performance, I strongly believe that there is always room for improvement”.
