Fun and food at the Pollock Pines Community Center
Over the last several months my family and I have been very pleased and impressed with the Pollock Pines Community Center. About April or May they started a Friday night taco dinner with an all-you-can-eat dinner at a very reasonable price. What a great night it turned out to be.
To start, we were very pleased to see so many people there and many were our neighbors that we never seem to have time to visit with. We were able to spend quality time with friends and neighbors and enjoy some of the best Mexican food around. The taco choices were not only beef and pork but fish too. Wow, the fish tacos with the incredible mango salsa were beyond delicious.
I lost count on how many times my husband went back to the buffet table (and me too). Everything was freshly prepared from the mango and fresca salsas to the cinnamon crisps. It was all done so professionally from the servers to the cleanliness that we never missed another 3rd Friday Night. We were sad to learn that they temporarily stopped the dinners due to the holidays and unpredictable winter weather, but happy that they will be starting up again in March or April. (Rumor has it that they are trying to find and bring in a Mariachi group to provide live music for the grand restart of the 3rd Friday Night Tacos.) You can be sure, we will be there.
We enjoyed the taco nights so much we decided to try the Thanksgiving dinner. The rooms were again packed with all our friends and neighbors and what seemed like over 200 people. We can hardly wait for the Free Christmas Dinner on Dec. 21. They have a great chef and a wonderful staff of volunteers. The entire building is also very festively decorated for the holidays and even the kids are excited because Santa is going to be there with gifts for every child.
All in all, we look forward to seeing what the Community Center comes up with next. One can be sure it will be creative, fun and very well done.
