Rescue fire director named to state board
Anne Walker, 53, moved to Rescue in 1996 with her husband, Sam, a volunteer firefighter. She credits him with getting involved in the firefighting world. When there was an opening on the Board of Directors of the Rescue Fire District, she was urged by members of the volunteer firefighting community to apply. She was appointed to the position 10 years ago.
...The Fire Districts Association of California, a non-profit organization representing the interests of fire districts, e-mailed her asking if she would like to be introduced to the State Fire Board as they thought she would be a good choice to join the board.
“I was not even aware of the state board until recently,” Walker said.
