Opinion: What tremendous medical facilities we have
Recently I returned from a five week trip to Brookings, Ore.. Because I have to take blood thinners l’m required to have blood tests every two weeks. I was astonished to learn they have no hospital or cardiology services. You have to be airlifted to Medford, Ore., or driven by ambulance for heart problems.
Thankfully I have two cardiologists in Placerville — Dr. Stanley Henjum, who follows my pacemaker and for checkups, and Dr. UygurTekin, who checks on my heart valves and other heart functions.
Years ago I had two valve surgeries in Sutter hospital done by Dr. Ingram and his associates Dr. Longoria and Dr. Kincade. I found out later that heart patients from all over the U.S. travel there to have their surgery done by these doctors. I was lucky.
They have extended my life for many years. Also I greatly appreciate my primary doctor Peter Barba. He encouraged me several times that I would get well when I had a few health issues a few years ago. He was right.
And lastly, I have to give kudos to Marshall Hospital for its outstanding staff and nurses. They are truly professional and courteous and keep you safe. They also give you daily updates on your stay. What else can you say for a great Hospital? Thank you.
