Why are you running for this office?
Steve Valentine: Through my entire life I have helped people in my community, first as a reserve deputy sheriff, then through my law office doing pro bono work, and finally as court commissioner. I worked as court commissioner from 2003-10 handling small claims, traffic and family law cases. I found it very interesting and fulfilling. I retired in 2010 and returned to private practice. When this position became available I was approached by several members of the bar, the bench and the general public with suggestions that I return by running for this office. They said that my ability and experience made me an ideal person for the judgeship. Having lived and worked in El Dorado County for nearly 20 years, I still desire to serve our community.
