Sierra Pastel Society meeting special guest - Pat Suggs
Mark your calendars for Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. at the El Dorado Hills Senior Center, 990 Lassen Lane in El Dorado Hills.
Pat Suggs of San Jose, received formal art education at the Leighton Fine Art Academy in San Francisco, Calif. and has worked almost exclusively in pastels for 25 years. She is known for her expressive floral and landscape paintings, and has published in “Best of Pastel” and “Floral Inspiration” by Rockport publishers. She is represented in public and private collections throughout the United States and France.
After a brief business meeting there will be a demonstration of set up and painting of a floral still life by Pat Suggs, signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Master Circle of the International Association of the Pastel Societies and signature member of Society of Western Artists.
Suggs, an accomplished and award-winning pastel artist from San Jose, is known for her expressive florals and landscapes, and her ability to capture light.
She received her formal art training at the Leighton Fine Art Academy in San Francisco. Over the last 25 years she has concentrated in the art of pastels.
Her work has appeared in numerous one-person shows, received awards in national and international juried exhibitions, and also appeared in such publications as “Pastel Artist International,” “Best of Pastel” and “Floral Inspiration.”
In addition to studio still life painting she enjoys, traveling the world and visiting art centers, painting on location and then reinterpreting those paintings back in the studio.
The public is welcome to attend free of charge.
