El Dorado County Supervisor Ray Nutting Claims charges are 'ridiculous'
El Dorado County Supervisor Ray Nutting is headed to a jury trial on charges of suspicion of filing false documents and other felonies.
Nutting was arrested and booked into El Dorado County Jail May 28 on four felony counts – two counts of filing false documents, perjury, having a financial interest in a county contract and failing to recuse himself from the vote. All are allegations made by the county District Attorney’s office as a result of an investigation into Nutting’s use of Cal Fire grant funds to clear his family’s land near Somerset.
... Nutting has maintained his innocence.
“I have pleaded not guilty and they sent it to trial,” Nutting said in a recent phone interview. “The judge ruled that there is reasonable suspicion to set trial. Vern (Pierson, the El Dorado County District Attorney,) knows this is ridiculous.”
... “They know this is silly,” Nutting said. “The charges aren’t going to stand up to a jury trial.”
